📝 Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds sirloin steak, cut into 1 to 2-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 medium onion, sliced into thick wedges
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup, or more to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 cup beef bone broth
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, halved
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • parsley for garnish

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cut steak into 1 to 2-inch pieces.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Quickly sear steak bites for 1 to 2 minutes per side.
  3. Place onion wedges on the bottom of a slow cooker. Add seared steak bites on top.
  4. Whisk Worcestershire sauce, Dijon, maple syrup, garlic, and black pepper together in a small bowl; pour over steak and onions. Pour in beef bone broth.
  5. Cook on Low for 3 hours total. At 1.5 hours; add mushrooms. 15 minutes before the 3-hour mark, remove 2 tablespoons of the cooking liquid and place in a small bowl. Whisk cornstarch into broth; pour back into crockpot. Continue to cook until thickened, about 15 minutes.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or maple syrup. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
